DEVELOPMENT: Status of Powder House School Site

Question/Comment: What are the City's plans for re-use of the Powder House School site?

City Update 5/11/10: The City's Office of Strategic Planning and Community Development (OSPCD) recently began a visioning process for reuse of the Powder House Community School site.  In early May they recruited community members to participate in a series of focus groups, which will ultimately inform community meetings to be held in the Summer and Fall.  Final recommendations on how to use the site to best serve the community will be made to the Board of Aldermen in the Fall of 2010.

City Update 12/3/09: The City has completed a study on the reuse of the Power House School and  a series of recommendations are currently before the Mayor for review.  Residents will be kept up to date on future decisions pertaining to the use of this site.

City Update 5/22/08: The City will be bringing in an outside contractor to assess the property to look at potential uses. The results of the study will be provided to the Board of Aldermen and members of the community in order to determine what the best alternative is for use of the property.
