PARKS: Central Hill Park Renovation

Question/Comment: What is the status of the renovation of the Central Hill Park? Where did the money came from to work on the Central Hill park?

City Update 11/16/2009: With the installation of the transferred play structures/swings, quite a bit of space remains in the Central Hill Playground. In response to a constituent inquiry about the space, the Public Works Department said that they do not remove donated plastic play structures or cars from the playground (unless they are broken or dangerous). Thus, if residents want to leave additional small play structures in the space, that would be most welcome.

City Update 9/23/2009: The play structure from Hodgkins-Curtin Park (pictured here) has been installed at Central Hill. Additional work needs to be done.

City Update 7/1/2009: Major reconstruction of Central Hill Park has been postponed due to the budget crunch. However, due to constituent requests and concerns about the safety of the old wooden structure, the City has removed that structure. The City is in the process also of removing the sand and will replace it with woodchips. One or more functional play structures will be moved from other parks now getting renovated. The cost of the removal work is being absorbed by the Department of Public Works.
