City Update 12/4/09: The play structure in Hodgkins-Curtin Park is scheduled for a late spring or early summer opening. The ballpark is scheduled to be completed by June of 2010, and will not be open until the following year. In response to resident requests, the new design will decrease the amount of concrete surfaces and increase green space.
City Update 8/1/09: According to the City's project manager on the park (Arn Franzen), the park reconstruction bidding was delayed but things are back on track. Just this morning, they were able to confirm the lowest qualified bidder for the project. Next steps after that will be awarding the contract and a pre-construction meeting. Arn reported that he hopes construction will get off the ground soon, but says the contractor may not realistically be able to complete the work in this construction season. He is also working with the City's Landscape Architect to get park graphics on the City's website. Arn also noted that proceeding quickly with the Hodgkins-Curtin renovation will benefit Central Hill Park as well. The City will be moving the younger children's play structure from Hodgkins-Curtin to Central Hill Park to replace the deteriorated wood structure that was recently removed.
