TRAFFIC: Concerns about safety at Quincy, Summer, and Prescott

Question/Comment: Residents requested that the city improve the safety of the intersection at Quincy, Summer, and Prescott. A resident said that it is very hard to see out from the side streets onto Summer to know when to cross. He suggested perhaps a longer lane of no parking or a bulb-out to prevent cars from parking close to the intersection.

City Update 11/16/2009: The Traffic Engineer has looked at this intersection a number of times and reports that there is little that can be done without major infrastructure changes. For example, going north on Quincy, at the intersection of Summer, there is a building on the left that comes right up the intersection and there is a large utility pole. These limit sight lines. Traffic and Parking does regularly enforce the 20-feet-from-the-intersection law, so as to reduce the number of parked cars blocking views.
