TRAFFIC: Cut-Through Traffic around Washington and Beacon

Question/Comment: Please find way to limit cut-through traffic from Dane Street onto Skehan, Village, and Hanson during peak hours. Also, please find ways to reduce cut-through traffic (drivers avoiding Washington and Beacon Streets) on Calvin and Dimmick Streets.

City Update 11/25/09:  These problems should be alleviated with the completion of Somerville Avenue in 2010.  New loops and traffic signal heads will be installed.  Additional improvements will occur when Beacon Street construction moves forward, but this projects is dependent on obtaining additional funding.  As traffic flow is an issue that impacts the whole neighborhood, specific changes are difficult to make as they require community consensus.

City Update 4/15/09: Eliminating cut throughs on just these two streets will cause bad traffic flow in other parts of the neighborhood. A change would be required in traffic flow in the entire area. The ward alderman is considering alternatives.
