TRAFFIC: More Bike Lanes Please

Question/Comment: Would it be possible to add more bike lanes on major City streets?

City Update 9/23/2009: Plans for reconstruction of Magoun Square include the addition of bike lanes. See: for more information.

City Update 6/5/2008: A bike lane on Washington Street between McGrath Highway and Sullivan Station and a bike lane in the Brickbottom area have been completed.

City Update 5/12/2008: In the spring of 2008, the City completed striping where legally possible on the full length of Beacon Street. Bike lane striping was also added to Broadway between Packard Ave and the Powderhouse rotary. There will be bike lanes the full length of Somerville Ave when that project is complete in 2009. There are possible proposed lanes for Washington Street and one in the Brickbottom area. This will be an ongoing process, connected to scheduled street improvements, but restricted by road widths in some places.
