TRAFFIC: Crosswalk at Somerville Ave. and Lowell St.

Question/Comment: A resident expressed concerns regarding the schedule for construction on Somerville Ave. There is a pedestrian traffic light at the crossing of Somerville ave at Lowell Street that remains inaccessible to strollers, and elderly and persons with disabilities because the sidewalk has gone unpaved.  What is inhibiting the completion of sidewalks on Somerville Ave.?

City Update 11/18/2009:  The sidewalk at Lowell Street and Somerville Ave. being paved today. This project was delayed because of its proximity to the fire station.  Sidewalks near fire stations need reinforcement to be able to support fire trucks. This project presented engineering challenges that were recently resolved to allow pouring to proceed.
