PARKS: Central Hill Playground

Question/Comment: A resident would like to know what is going on with the  playground in front of Somerville High School.  She is aware that they recently installed a new play area, but would like to know if there going to be an area for smaller children, as there was before.

City Update 12/10/09: The Ciyt's Office of Strategic Planning and Community development (OSPCD) does have plans for a new playground in front of the High School, however those plans are part of a much larger renovation plan for Central Hill Park which has not been formally scheduled.  Unfortunately, the City did have to remove the old wood structure at the park because it was becoming unsafe and children were getting injured, but we have replaced it with the younger children's play structure, swings, and spring toy from Hodgkins Park.  Therefore, the existing playground is not likely to change significantly in the immediate future, but will eventually.  Area residents may also want to consider visiting the Walnut Street Playground on Walnut between Aldersey and Bow Streets.
