QUALITY OF LIFE: Bus shelters on Somerville Ave.

Question/Comment: A resident would like to know where bus shelters will be located on Somerville Ave. in the spring.

City Update 5/13/10: The City's Department of Public Works is currently working on finalizing locations of new bus shelters along Somerville Ave., and will have these locations within next couple of weeks.  Bus shelter installations should be finished over the course of the summer, as work on Somerville Ave. is scheduled to be completed in July.

City Update 1/6/10:  The City ordered decorative bus shelters to be placed in new locations along Somerville Avenue, however, it was later discovered that these shelters were too large to meet the 36 inch clearance requirement mandated by the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).  Therefore, The City will be meeting with the bus shelter manufacturer to discuss the possibility of installing a smaller version of the decorative shelters along Somerville Avenue in the near future.  After this meeting the plans for bus shelters on Somerville Avenue will be finalized.
