DATA & TECHNOLOGY: City updates on Twitter

Question/Comment: A resident suggested that the City's ResiStat program start publishing updates on Twitter to compliment the ResiStat website and SomerBlog community forum.

City Update 2/25/10: After preliminary analysis of survey results, the City has decided to launch a  ResiStat  Facebook page.  This decision was informed by the fact that over 40 percnet of over 500 survey respondents  indicated that they use Facebook daily, while 9 percent said the same of Twitter.  A ReisStat Facebook page is currently in development in hopes that it will engage more residents in the City's decision-making process.

City Update 1/28/10: Members of the City's SomerStat and ResiStat staff are currently working with a Harvard Kennedy School MPP candidate on a project he designed, one of the goals of which is to assess the potential for ResiStat to use online services to improve its outreach to residents.  After receiving his recommendations, ResiStat may branch out into more online forums, such as Twitter or Facebook.
