ENVIRONMENTAL ISSUES: Bottled water policy

Question/Comment: A resident would like information on the City's policy regarding bottled water.  S/he saw that in mid-2008 Somerville pledged to cancel its bottled water contracts ( and would like to know the current status of this effort.

City Update 3/30/10: The City eliminated the purchase of single serve bottled water.   However, the City continues to maintain our bottled water contracts for the large bubblers because City office buildings do not have adequate plumbing to provide drinking water to workers and visitors.  As the City looks towards building or rehabbing City buildings, ensuring an adequate availability of drinking water will be a priority.
