I-93 Traffic Alert

Earlier this afternoon, a five-foot by three-foot pothole formed on the northbound side of I-93, just before Exit 33 in Medford. Because work crews anticipate the work lasting long than expected, and because traffic has been reduced to one lane, drivers are advised to seek alternate routes during this evening’s and tomorrow morning’s commutes.

Additionally, as this issue may cause traffic delays in the Somerville area, residents are advised to avoid or limit vehicle travel where possible this evening, particularly during rush hour.

City and State officials are working to alleviate traffic wherever possible until this pothole has been repaired, and public safety officials will be stationed in affected areas.

Thank you for your patience and cooperation as crews work to correct this important public safety issue.
