Get Well Soon Card for Mario Oliveira, Injured SPD Officer

Officer Oliveira Receiving an Award (Photo:
As you likely heard by now, Officer Mario Oliveira of the Somerville Police Department was shot in the line of duty last Tuesday. This is bad news for one of our most decorated officers. He is currently in stable condition, recovering at Mass. General Hospital. When we posted this news on Facebook, we received an outpouring of support in the form of "likes." We plan to forward this to Officer Oliveira, along with any comments you leave on this blog or the Facebook page. We may print it out, or just let him read the comments as they come in, but either way we wanted to give you a chance to send your wishes and support.

So, again, leave your comments here, post them on Facebook, of just send me an email (dhadley at and we will make sure they arrive at the bedside of Officer Oliveira. This is a chance to show the SPD we appreciate their courage and hard work.
