The Rain Can't Stop Bike Month Somerville

The weather should be taking a turn for the better on Friday, just in time for the day's Morning Bike Convoys and the Mayor's Bike Ride, which everyone is invited to take part in.

On Friday at 1 p.m., meet the Mayor at City Hall for a 7-mile bike ride along many of the new bike lanes that have been marked up over the past year. We'll go slow, so no one will be left behind. Here’s the route:

And in the morning, in honor of National Bike-to-Work Week, join a bike convoy as it passes through Davis Square and on to the Boston Bike Week Festival. The early bird convoy is expected in Davis at 7 a.m. at Seven Hills Park. A second convoy will start in Davis at 7:40 a.m. and proceed to Beacon and Hampshire St. en route to the Longfellow bridge.

City Hall workers will also bike to work from three of the city's squares. To join in: Depart Teele Square at 8:00 a.m. on Friday and pass through Powerderhouse, Ball and Magoun on your way into City Hall. Or depart Davis Square, at the Community Path, between 8:00-8:10 and head up the Community Path to City Hall. Or depart from the plaza in Union Square at 8:15 and head up the hill at Prescott St. to City Hall.
