Something for Everyone at SomerStreets "Going Green on Route 16" Aug. 21

Ever wonder what it would be like to glide down the wide open lanes of Route 16 on skates or your bicycle? Well, here's your chance. For the first time ever, Somerville will close down part of Route 16 to cars and open it to you to bike, run, skate, walk and move any way you like on Sunday, August 21, noon-4 p.m. Meanwhile, free entertainment and family-friendly activities will dot the route. Part of the SomerStreets series, "Going Green on Route 16" will feature
  • open roadway for biking, jogging, skating and more
  • Farmers Market and Crafts Market
  • live music and entertainment
  • recycled sculpture contest (Info here, apply by 8/17)
  • DJ * 3 on 3 Soccer Tournament, large volleyball, races
  • Curious Creatures (with turtles, reptiles and rabbits)
  • outdoor yoga
  • environmental activities and info
  • Vegetable Circus
  • fire engines and ambulances for kids to explore
  • Nature Scavenger Hunt, parachute games, limbo
  • Bounce House, kids games and face painting
  • FREE swimming at Dilboy Pool

In a way, it's an instant park that will only be there for one day. So don't miss it.
