Somerville Seeks More Mystery Customers

The City of Somerville is seeking volunteers to provide customer feedback on their experiences using City services. If you're planning on conducting a transaction with a city department, such as paying your water bill, getting a dog licence, or requesting a dumpster permit, you can become a Mystery Customer and review how well the City served you. Your survey responses will provide the Mayor’s Office with valuable insights for how we can improve City services. The Mystery Customer program is part of the City's ACE (Accurate, Courteous and Easy) customer service initiative.

To sign up to be a Mystery Customer, click HERE, fill out the form, and we'll send you instructions.

The following are just a few examples of transactions that Mystery Customers may review:
  • Obtaining a residential parking sticker at Traffic & Parking
  • Requesting a dog license at the City Clerk’s Office
  • Picking up a yard waste sticker from DPW
  • Calling in a request for information or service to 311
  • Signing up for a library card
  • Seeking information on the City website
  • Paying your excise tax
  • Applying for a business permit
  • Applying for a building permit
  • Requesting a tree trim
  • Visiting a City park
  • Reporting a damaged street sign

Your rewards
Evaluations are submitted via a simple online survey that takes just a few minutes to fill out. The identities of Mystery Customers will never be shared publicly or with the departments/offices being evaluated. Mystery Customers who complete four surveys will be rewarded with small thank you gifts (City tote bags, coffee mugs, etc.)--and improved customer service.

If you have any questions, please contact Denise Taylor at City Hall (625-6600 x2103, dtaylor@somervillema.gov).
